24-Hour Crisis Line (306) 693-6511

The Moose Jaw Women's Transition House Association is a non-profit organization governed by a volunteer board that operates a women's shelter in southcentral Saskatchewan. We provide services for rural and urban women and their children who are victims of partnership violence.

The shelter offers safe, short-term housing, crisis counselling and advocacy. The shelter has been in operation since 1978 and has grown from providing only shelter services to also offering outreach, children's services and a follow-up program.

The shelter itself offers a 24 hour crisis line, housing, meals and emergency clothing for up to 16 women and children. Shelter staff are available for emergency counselling either in person or by phone, make referrals to community and government agencies and assist families in re-estabishing themselves in a new home. When possible, transportation is provided to schools and appointments. Staff encourage women to make their own decisions in a relaxed, home-like atmosphere.

Lasting connections are often made in the shelter by families going through similar difficulties, providing each other with on-going support. The newly established follow-up program seeks to build on the bonds created while in the shelter through monthly coffee groups and individual support and advocacy.
